Outsourcing Extranet Identity Management

The main use case and benefit of the Ubilogin eIDM is the ability to outsource the extranet user identity management almost completely to the extranet users themselves. The Ubilogin eIDM makes it possible to cut costs considerably when companies are deploying ever larger extranets to the partners, customers and other stakeholders.

In a typical situation a company is offering services to their stakeholders. Usually these are web based services, but the Ubilogin eIDM does not make any distinction what the eventual interface will be. The main thing is that there are a considerable amount of extranet users, and the majority of those users can not use a federation solution.

From the partner's point of view the introduction of Ubilogin eIDM makes things more transparent and easier to handle. The extranet user or company will be able to govern their own users and authorize them properly. The Ubilogin eIDM makes it also easier to follow what is happening as most changes in the ID status will trigger email notifications for both end users and the extranet user administrators in the partner company.

The picture below will show how little the administrator in the provider company has to do: the only administrative procedure is to accept the admin account request coming from the extranet user organization!

After the admin account is created, all requests, identities and authorizations are created and maintained by the extranet user organization admin.

Ubilogin eIDM is a web based application, so for the extranet user organization administrator, a web browser is sufficient. The extranet user organization's administrator is capable of creating new identities within the system, authorizing those identities to selected services with unique role sets, authorizing other organizations to represent them in the services (example: accounting) or other users within the system.
