This year, Ubisecure launched its expansion into the DACH region – comprising of Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Our regional headquarters opened in Munich in April 2019, and is led by cybersecurity industry veteran Volker Zinser. This September we had the pleasure of arranging an IAM Academy session with attendees from two of our new partner companies, Senacor and inovit.

As a short background, Senacor is a leading provider for business and IT transformation, digitalisation and individual software development in German-speaking countries. And inovit is a Swiss IAM specialist based in Zurich, providing services related to cloud integration, data classification and information protection, strategy and positioning, solution architectures, and cloud service provider solutions.

Ubisecure is in a high-growth phase of its partner-first business strategy, extending its partner network to quickly and effectively enter new regions. We benefit from our partners’ local knowledge and existing relationships with their customers, whilst our partners benefit from additional revenue streams and more complete digitalisation solutions for their customers. This collaborative approach has proven to be incredibly successful on all sides, and events like IAM Academy are important to get the very best outcomes for end customers from our award-winning digital identity solutions – including, but not limited to, streamlined user experience, improved operational efficiency and compliance with regulation.

The concept of IAM Academy

IAM Academy is Ubisecure’s partner training programme, covering the commercial and technical aspects of Ubisecure’s Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) and Identity APIs.

It is executed at least every spring and autumn in Finland and according to demand in our other business regions – e.g. Sweden and the UK. The first IAM Academy was held over a decade ago, having trained over 300 IAM professionals during the years, and we look forward to training many more as we welcome new and existing partners to future events.

Whether partners just need to gain a basic understanding of IAM technologies and products to conduct sales presentations and create bid deliverables for the sales process, or to learn how to install and integrate Ubisecure products and assist, support and consult customers in their IAM projects, the IAM Academy offers a suitable set of classes to attend. The programme includes theory lessons, demonstrations, samples of real-life deployments and practical exercises. The sessions are mainly conducted by our Sales Engineering team but we occasionally invite visiting trainers as the range of topics is tailored to participant requirements.

First IAM Academy in Germany

My colleague Oscar Santolalla (Sales Engineer) and I arrived in Munich on a rainy and dark September evening. However, the timing for our trip could not have been better since we got to experience the genuine Oktoberfest with our hosts during the visit!

First IAM Academy in Germany My colleague Oscar Santolalla (Sales Engineer) and I arrived in Munich on a rainy and dark September evening. However, the timing for our trip could not have been better since we got to experience the genuine Oktoberfest with our hosts during the visit! However, of course the real reason for our trip was to conduct the very first IAM Academy session in the DACH region. We were very happy to meet attendees from Senacor and Inovit, alongside some Ubisecure colleagues from the UK and Germany. The training took place at Senacor’s premises and included IAM Academy courses 1, 3 and 4. Find out more about the course content here. The training was successful as everyone was able to complete all the tasks from web application integrations, data model provisioning and various authentication method configurations, to configuring delegated role management, REST APIs, GUI customisation and setting up the authorisation policies within the time window. Even though IAM Academy has a packed agenda, it also always gives attendees the chance to get to know new people and share their views and challenges of the digital identity scene. This is what Jochen Nickel, COB at inovit, had to say about the IAM Academy: “IAM Academy was a very informative and clear course, particularly the hands-on labs which provided practical knowledge of installing, configuring and troubleshooting Ubisecure’s digital identity technology. The trainers, Sami and Oscar, had excellent knowledge around the topics and remained flexible to the group’s needs.”

IAM Academy Course 4 – additional day

Due to high demand, we have just released a third (optional) day for the lab exercise-focused IAM Academy course 4. You can attend this additional day after completing the standard two-day IAM Academy course 4 training. This additional day shows partners how to configure workflows with backend calls, API protection, user-driven federation, and the SSO Password Reset tool. All of the trainees will use individual, isolated, sandbox environments for the lab exercises, and we provide the possibility to keep on using it for a restricted time period after the course. In this way, they have the chance to practice what they learn during the lab sessions.

If you’re interested in attending the course for the first time, refreshing your memory, or attending this additional day in course 4, get in touch here.
